When investigations are carried out in a manner that betrays their foundational purpose and trials become mechanical exercises divorced from a quest for truth, pursuit of justice may falter not at altar of complexity but at hands of indifference. Trial Court as well as High Court in instant case have indeed appended charts of witnesses and documents. However, we are of view, a more structured and uniform practice must be adopted. Trial Courts dealing with criminal matters shall, at conclusion, incorporate tabulated charts. These charts shall be prepared in a clear, structured and easily comprehensible format.
